GUEST SPEAKERS SHARE COMMUNITY GOALS

GUEST SPEAKERS SHARE COMMUNITY GOALS

At our September 5th, 2018 monthly membership meeting, two guest speakers — Diane Carpenter, a founder and officer of the Windham Endowment for Community Advancement, and Dianna Fallon, a founder and officer of Friends of Moeckel Pond — shared heartening news of their respective organizations’ recent achievements.

The Windham Endowment maintains 23 funds supporting educational, recreational, cultural, and environmental efforts and projects in the town.  The Endowment has gifted over $300,000 since its inception, including contributing to the Woman’s Service Club.

Friends of Moeckel Pond has raised extensive funds for rebuilding the Moeckel Pond dam and restoring the many recreational, wildlife, historic, and environmental enhancements that the pond will provide.  The WSCW has contributed to the Moeckel Pond efforts in past years.

Indeed, the WSCW and these two other organizations enjoy a longstanding, intertwined tradition of community service.
