SECOND COAT DRIVE WILL WARM HUNDREDS MORE THIS WINTER
On Saturday, November 4th, with the kind support of the Windham community, the WSCW added 660 more items to the 1006 coats, sweaters, and other winter items previously collected in October. That’s a total of well over 1600 items for the season, which will be distributed to Windham’s Shepard’s Pantry and other charities in our region to those in need. Thanks, once again, to Shaw’s Supermarket in Windham, the Nesmith Library, and Windham Co-Op Kindergarten for their assistance collecting donated items.
The Co-Chairs for both the October and November Coat Drives are Pat Russell and Sue Violi, who also report a heart-warming incident at the November collection event. A Pelham resident, on his way to another town with donated coats, caught site of the WSCW sign on the side of the road and decided to bring his valuable cargo directly to us. He is reported saying it felt good to donate to a group that would GIVE his items to people in need. Indeed, we do!
Thank you, friends and neighbors, for your generosity.
